By focusing on shared interests rather than zero-sum games, this method allows for sustainable and long-lasting agreements. 2. Competitive Negotiation: Next on the list is competitive negotiation, often referred to as distributive or win-lose negotiation. This method involves maximizing individual gains and asserting one's interests at the expense of the other party. While competitive negotiation may yield results in certain situations, it often leads to strained relationships and can hinder future collaborations. However, in some instances, such as when negotiating the purchase of a car or determining the terms of a business deal, a certain level of competition may be necessary. 3. Compromising: Compromising falls in the middle ground of negotiation methods, as it aims to find a satisfactory solution for both parties by meeting halfway.
